Music

After silence that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music. – Aldous Huxley

Heidi Wyder, née Johnson, was born in Sussex, England. She studied French and German and started song writing in her first job as a language teacher. Her two debut albums (Peeling Oranges and Solitaire) met with acclaim and she started to gig in the UK and USA shortly before purchasing a round-the-world ticket, due to a long-standing ambition to travel.

The original intention was to find places to perform in Australia, but a planned one month “stop-over” in India was extended to almost three years after she met a spiritual master, “Guruji” (Yogi Prakash Shankar Vyas), and started to learn yoga and meditation as a complete beginner. This story is written in her book Kriya Yoga, Four Spiritual Masters of Kriya Yoga and a Beginner.

Music took a backseat for the best part of a decade whilst the universe said it was time to have children, write a book and migrate to Australia with her family in 2007, but before doing so she realised a long-standing desire to record a CD, India Dreaming, featuring the songs published in her book. All the while she continued (and still continues) to work as a secondary school teacher.

You can listen to a few sample tracks from the new album on the page “Listen to the Music!”. Enjoy!
